Sie ist doch bemerkenswert; die Reaktion des iranischen Außenministeriums auf die doch im internationalen Maßstab gemessenen sehr deutlichen Worte der deutschen Kanzlerin in der FAZ. Wenn der Brite verschämt indigniert hüstelt kriegt er grade noch einen Tritt vors Schienenbein. deutschland dagegen wird wie ein rohes Ei behandelt. Einmal mehr gilt: falls Saktionen kommen sollten, wird die deutsche Beteiligung eine besonder Rolle spielen.

Press TV: “Experience has proved that sanctions are futile and won’t prevent Iran from pursuing its legal rights,” Qashqavi [der Sprecher des iranischen Außenministeriums] said at his weekly press conference on Monday.

“In fact, many countries have condemned anti-Iran sanctions,” he further added while criticizing the remarks by German Chancellor Angela Merkel regarding energy sanctions against Iran.

Qashqavi advised the German Chancellor to have realistic views over Iran.

In an interview published on Thursday by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Merkel said that any new rounds of sanctions regarding Iran’s nuclear activities should mainly target its energy sector.

“My life is over. I don’t think I can ever recover,” he said, as he recounted his experiences to The Times — on condition that his identity not be revealed.

TEHRAN (AFP) – Iran on Sunday accused Argentina of meddling in its domestic affairs after the south American country expressed outrage at the nomination of a man wanted for a 1994 bombing to be the next defence minister.

„The positions taken by Argentine officials obviously amount to meddling in the domestic affairs of the Islamic Republic and we strongly condemn these illegal actions,“ Iran’s official IRNA news agency quoted foreign ministry spokesman Hassan Ghashghavi as saying.

On Friday, Argentina strongly criticised Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s decision to put forward Ahmad Vahidi as defence minister in his new 21-member cabinet.

Iran Revolutionary Guards ‘kill 26 Kurdish rebels’

TEHRAN (AFP) – Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards have killed 26 Kurdish rebels in northwestern Iran, a commander of the guards was quoted as saying on Sunday by the Fars news agency.

„In an operation to clean up the West Azerbaijan and Kurdistan provinces of counter-revolutionary and terrorist groups, 26 of the agents were killed,“ said Mohammad Pakpoor, who was described by Fars as commander of the Revolutionary Guards ground forces.

He said the operation had delivered a „massive blow“ to the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) and other Kurdish rebel groups.

He gave no indication of the period in which the killings took place but said that no guards forces were killed in the operation.

The website Norooznews, associated with the reformist Mosharekat party, posted a report based on the testimony of an employee at the Behesht-e Zahra cemetery in Teheran, that on July 12 and 15, 2009, 44 victims killed during the post-election riots were buried in the cemetery in unmarked graves, under tight security. The cemetery management refused to answer the website’s questions regarding this matter.

Senior Iranian Official: Energy Sanctions against Iran Will Only Harm the West

In response to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s threat to impose sanctions on Iran if no progress is achieved on its nuclear dossier, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, chairman of the Majlis national security committee, stated that Merkel’s threat was unrealistic and motivated by domestic considerations, and that expanding the energy sanctions on Iran would only harm the West.

Iranian Website: Enhanced IAEA Supervision – Proof of Iran’s Flexibility

The Iranian website Tabnak stated that, by allowing the IAEA to install more cameras in its nuclear facility in Natanz, and by allowing IAEA inspectors to visit the heavy water plant in Arak,

Iran had demonstrated its desire to break the deadlock in the nuclear talks, scheduled to reopen in November.

The site stated further that Iran was operating 10,000 centrifuges and testing 2,000 more.

Liebe FreundInnen, GenossInnen und Interessierte,

wir, das Veranstaltungskomitee Im Exil lebender, ehemaliger politischer Gefangener und linker politischer Aktivisten aus dem Iran, möchten Euch auf ein Seminar aufmerksam machen, das vom 18. bis 20. September 2009 in Hannover stattfinden wird.

Nach dem Erfolg der Seminare von 2005 zum Thema „Massaker an politischen Gefangenen und Regimegegnern in den Jahren 1981-1988 im (islamischen Republik) Iran“ und über „Politische Gefangene und soziale Bewegungen“ im Jahr 2007 wird nun eine dreitägige Tagung organisiert, zu der TeilnehmerInnen aus aller Welt erwartet werden. Die Seminare beschäftigen sich mit den Themen:

„Irans Ex-Präsident lässt Opposition im Stich“ (so Spon)

Kurswechsel eines der mächtigsten Männer in Iran: Ex-Präsident Haschemi Rafsandschani mahnt die Protestbewegung auf einmal zum Gehorsam gegenüber dem Revolutionsführer Chamenei. Noch im Juli hatte er sich öffentlich auf die Seite der Opposition geschlagen.

Teheran – Irans früherer Präsident Akbar Haschemi Rafsandschani hat offenbar einen Kurswechsel vollzogen. Nach Angaben des Fernsehsenders Press TV forderte er die Bevölkerung zum Gehorsam gegenüber Revolutionsführer Ajatollah Ali Chamenei auf. Der Vorsitzende der einflussreichen Expertenversammlung habe die Notwendigkeit betont, gegen Rechtsbrecher vorzugehen, meldete die amtliche iranische Nachrichtenagentur Irna. Zudem habe er zu Verständnis zwischen Behördenvertretern und der Öffentlichkeit aufgerufen, um die gegenwärtigen innenpolitischen Probleme zu überwinden, die durch Ausländer verursacht seien.

Hamid Dabashis Wolkenkuckucksheim

Einerseits bezeichnet Professor Hamid Dabashi (Columbia University, N.Y.) in seinem Komentar die Folter- und Vergewaltigungsberichte aus iranischen Gefängnissen als zutreffend, andererseits aber charakterisiert er Karroubi als glaubwürdigen und aufrichtigen Zeugen der islamischen Revolution, obwohl dieser selbst unlängst seine Aussagen relativiert hatte.

Weiter unten deutet Dabashi zwar richterweise an, dass ein Wechsel von der „islamischen“ zur „iranischen“ Republik vollzogen werden soll, spricht aber im gleichen Atemzug davon, dass es konsequenterweise dann auch keinen jüdischen Staat geben könne.

Dabei ignoriert er schlicht, dass der jüdische Staat Israel keine monolithisch abgeschlossene Welt ist, sondern eine sehr vital-plurale. Hier setzt sich bei Dabashi dasselbe antizionistische (und im Kern antisemitische) Denkmuster durch wie bei Karroubi. Schade, denn seine Analyse passt in großen Teilen.

Commentary: Iran confronts rape, torture allegations

(CNN) — Troubling news of kidnapping, rape, torture, and murder is flooding out of Iran.

Neda Aqa Soltan was murdered point-blank in the streets of Tehran for the whole world to see; while Sohrab Arabi was killed far from any global attention and his body given to his mother quietly to bury, as was the tortured body of Mohsen Ruholamini.

These names have assumed symbolic significance for many more innocent young men and women murdered by the custodians of the Islamic Republic with a wanton disregard for the lives and liberties of its own citizens.

Not just murder, but the rape of young men and women also is on the shameless roster of the Islamic Republic. After years of sporadic charges and troubling rumors, finally a courageous cleric has put a stamp of public recognition on atrocious practices in the theocratic state.

Argentiniens Reaktion auf Ahmadi Vadhidi

Wir hatten schon darüber berichtet, dass Ahmadi Vadhidi (Abb.), der von Ahmadinejad zum neuen Verteidigungsminister berufen wurde, zusammen mit dem unterlegenen Präsidentschaftskandidaten Mohsen Rezaie verantwortlich ist für die Planung des Mordanschlags auf die Jüdische Gemeinde in Buenos Aires 1994 und (wie Rezaei) von Interpol zur Festnahme ausgeschrieben.

Nun regt sich heftiger Protest in Argentinien:

BUENOS AIRES (AFP) – Argentina expressed outrage Friday over Iran’s nomination of a man wanted in connection to a 1994 Buenos Aires bombing that killed 85 people as the next defense minister.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tapping Ahmad Vahidi for the post is „an affront to Argentine justice and the victims of the terrorist attack“ on the Jewish community center, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

News of the nomination was received „with grave concern and deserves the most energetic condemnation of the Argentine government,“ it said.

In 2007, Interpol issued what it calls a Red Notice on Vahidi, a former head of Al Quds, an elite unit of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. Interpol under the notice distributed Argentina’s arrest warrant for Vahidi to member countries.

Kleriker: Keine Quotenfrauen!

Wieder mal bezeichnend für die Berichterstattung einer westlichen Nachrichtenagentur wie AFP ist, dass sie weiterhin auf der Klaviatur „Hardliner kontra Reformer“ spielt. Nur bekommen in diesem Fall die Hardlienr um Ahmadinejad das Odeur von „Reformern“ ab, weil sie sich als (Frauen-) Quotenbringer gerieren. Auf die Idee, dass hier Hardliner (Regierung) gegen Hardliner (Klerus) agieren, kommt man bei den Mainstream-Medien nicht.

TEHRAN (AFP) – Iran’s conservative clerics have objected to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s decision to include three women in his new cabinet, a report said on Saturday, dealing a blow to the hardliner’s bid to secure parliament’s nod for his ministerial line-up.

Ahmadinejad named Sousan Keshvaraz, Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdi and Fatemeh Ajorlou as his ministers respectively of education, health, and welfare and social security in his 21-member cabinet.

Morden im Allahs Namen – Gestern wie heute…

folgender ca. 14 minütige Film (The Garden of Khavaran vom iranischen Filmemacher Moslem Mansouri) ist den tausenden ermordeten politischen Gefangenen gediwdmet, die im Sommer 1988 in der Islamischen Republik Iran hingerichtet und dann in namenlosen Massengräbern ohne Grabstein bestattet wurden.

“Khavaran”, located on a hillside south of Tehran, is one of the known mass graves of political prisoners executed by the Islamic Republic of Iran. Families of the executed call it a garden since whenever they leave the hillside is covered with flowers. In the summer of 1988, new mass graves were discovered in Khavaran. The first signs that something was happening in Iran‘s prisons came in late July when families were suddenly denied their regular visits. Their endless efforts to track their children only ended months later when they were summoned to receive their children’s clothing and perhaps a last will. Today we know that in the summer of 1988, for more than two months, a „death commission“ appointed by Ayatollah Khomeini, went from prison to prison and conducted two to three minute re-trials. Thousands, many of whom had finished their sentences, were sent to the gallows. The Garden of Khavaran is a tribute to the thousands of political prisoners who were massacred in 1988 in Iran‘s prisons and to their families.«

Russia Willing to Sell Iran Fighters

An official at Russia’s state arms exporter said that if asked, Moscow would be willing to consider orders for military equipment from Tehran.

„If Iran were interested in military transport planes, or tactical battle aviation, we would look at this request,“ Alexander Mikheyev, the deputy director of Rosoboronexport, was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency this week.

The Russian official, meanwhile, did not mention the company’s willingness for the delivery of a Russian-made air defense system, the Iranian Press TV reported.

At a Tehran meeting, the Iranian and Syrian presidents exchanged views on the most important topics in the region and the Muslim world.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Bashar Assad both agreed that the current global situation was a historic opportunity for nations of the region and emphasized every single opportunity must be employed for the benefit of regional countries.

They also highlighted the tangled situation of the West and reiterated that the resistance spirit of the region’s nations must be boosted.

On Friday, Ayatollah Jannati said parallels could be drawn between the recent uproar and the CIA-backed coup in 1953 — when the then democratically-elected Iranian prime minister, Mohammad Mosaddeq, was deposed in a military coup d’etat.

„They wanted to repeat that coup … not knowing that people were not political savvy then. [In 1953,] people did not take to the streets, and no one was martyred; thus 25 years of tyranny ruled them,“ said the Principlist cleric. „But nowadays, people are well aware of the (political) situation.“

Ein Scheinwiderspruch im direkten Wortsinn! „Abschiebestopp verlängern“?

Behruz Asadi von AK-Asyl Rheinland-Pfalz schreibt in einem Brief an Herrn Ministerpräsident Kurt Beck, daß der Abschiebestopp für die iranischen Flüchtlinge für sechs Monate verlängert werden solle!

Warum denn das? Warum nicht gleich alle Ministerpräsidenten der Länder auffordern: Gar keine Abschiebung, solange die Mullahs dort fest im Sattel sitzen.
