Eine Auslandsreise, musste sich Ahmedinejad gedacht haben, die ist mal wieder dringend nötig. Nur wohin? Venezuela? Weißrussland? Nicaragua? Dann blieb der Blick des Präsidenten beim Blick auf die Karte im Palast, auf der die befreundeten sozialistischen Staaten des 21. Jahrunderts markiert sind, auf Syrien hängen. Syrien ist gut, da war ich schon länger nicht mehr, muss er sich gedacht haben. Syrien!

Da kann man gleich mal wieder über das Verschwinden von Israel reden, über Freundschaft, eigentlich über alles, was einem iranischen Präsidenten dieser Tage so auf dem Herzen liegt:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said Tehran-Damascus ties are as “solid” as ever despite the US calls on Syria to distance itself from the Islamic Republic.
“Relations between Syria and Iran are brotherly, deep, solid and permanent … Nothing can damage these relations,” President Ahmadinejad said at a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on Thursday.
The Iranian president further pointed out that Israel was “on the path to disappearing.”
“If the Zionist entity wants to repeats its past errors, its death will be inevitable,” Ahmadinejad said.

Und, wie diesem Artikel aus der staatlichen syrischen Zeitung Tishreen zu entnehmen ist, hat man sich auch in Damaskus auf den Besuch gefreut.

Aber dort hat man auch inzwischen seine Lektion gelernt, es gehe bei der Parnerschaft mit dem Iran nur, so stellt der Autor klar, um die Vernichtung Israels, keineswegs um die der Juden. Einen Nahen Osten, ohne Israel unter Patronage von Obama; davon etwa träumt man in Syrien, dessen Regime ja gerade aus den USA eine ausgestreckte Hand nach der anderen entgegengehalten wird.

“Changing the face of the region means one of two things: either ending the Arab-Israeli conflict, which has continued now for 60 years, [by means of] a just and comprehensive ‘peace,’ – which is not possible to achieve with this squatting, destructive colonialist entity that is foreign to the identity of the region – or the disappearance of this entity, just as it has been forced upon us, from the end of World War II to this day.” (…)

“The U.S. – which has become the official and only patron of the Zionist entity in its neo-Fascist-Nazi form, whose terrorist Likud government is in a state of moral isolation – must give some serious thought to drawing the lines of the new Middle East of which it has dreamed, but this time, without Israel. More accurately, [let me say] without the Zionist regime, so that no one will think that the Arabs and Muslims are planning a war of extermination against the Jews as Jews…
