Iran threatens, the world silent

Soweit alles wie immer:

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s speech at the Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony at Yad Vashem Sunday evening focused on the rising Iranian threat, Iran clearly declares its genocidal intentions with regard to Israel and seeks to arm itself with nuclear weapons for that purpose.

Netanyahu’s speech came after that of President Shimon Peres who stressed as two central lessons of the holocaust for us, that the world must not display the apathy it did then in the face of a nation seeking weapons of mass destruction, having the capacity to use them to perform mass destruction and inciting mass destruction.

“The historical failure of the free world in facing the Nazi beast was in not confronting it when it could still be stopped,“ Netanyahu said, „today we witness the fire of the old-new hate, the hate of the Jews being spread by the regimes and organizations of radical Islam, spearheaded by Iran and its cohorts.“

Iran’s leaders are hell-bent on developing nuclear weapons and publicly declare their intention to destroy Israel, “but in the face of the oft-repeated calls to erase the Jewish state from the face of the earth, we see at best mild protestations, and these too seem to be fading,” the Prime Minister lambasted the international community.

We do not hear the decisive condemnation required, the world stands by, some even criticize Israel, he went on, we do not see the international resolve required to prevent Iran’s nuclear armament. “From this lectern I call on the enlightened nations to rise and powerfully condemn Iran’s genocidal intentions and act with real resolve to stop Iran arming itself with nuclear weapons.”

Herr Chamenei zur „amerikanischen Niedertracht“

Kein Wunder, dass Chamenei sich an Ahmadinejads Tiraden anhängt.

Chamenei nennt neue Atomstrategie der USA „schändlich“

(AFP) Teheran — Nach Präsident Mahmud Ahmadinedschad hat auch das geistliche Oberhaupt des Iran, Ali Chamenei, US-Präsident Barack Obama wegen dessen neuer Atomstrategie scharf angegriffen. Obama habe „den Iranern indirekt mit Atomwaffen gedroht“, sagte Chamenei bei einem vom Staatsfernsehen übertragenen Treffen mit ranghohen Militärkommandeuren.

Er bezeichnete die Ausführungen des US-Präsidenten als „schändlich“: Sie schadeten den USA, zeigten, „dass die US-Regierung niederträchtig ist und man ihr nicht trauen kann“, sagte Chamenei weiter.

Iran to complain to UN over Obama nuclear ‘threat’

Manche Dinge sind so verrückt, dass man sie gar nicht ausdenken könnte:

Iran will lodge a complaint with the United Nations about what it sees as US President Barack Obama’s threat to attack it with nuclear weapons, the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.

Obama made clear last week that Iran and North Korea were excluded from new limits on the use of US atomic weapons – something Tehran interpreted as a threat from a long-standing adversary to attack it with nuclear bombs.

„The recent statement by the US president… implicitly intimidates the Iranian nation with the deployment of nuclear arms,“ Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a televised meeting with military and security officials.

„This statement is very strange and the world should not ignore it since in the 21st century, which is the era of support for human rights and campaigning against terrorism, the head of a country is threatening to use nuclear war.“ [Weiterlesen...]

Wahied Wahdat-Hagh: Die iranische Reaktion auf Obamas Atomdoktrin

Ein paar herablassende Worte und die übliche Hetze, das ist die Reaktion Ahmadineschads auf Obamas neuesten Ölzweig.

Ahmadinedschad sagte über den US-amerikanischen Präsidenten: „Herr Obama hat erst in jüngster Zeit die politische Bühne betreten und sammelt noch Erfahrungen. So wie die Leute, die ihn umgeben uns erzählen, ist er unter Druck der kapitalistischen und zionistischen Gruppen. Er kann keine richtigen Entscheidungen treffen. Und wir rechnen ihm dies als Unerfahrenheit an.“

Statement aus den 90ern

Ein Sprecher des britischen Außenministeriums erklärte in London, es herrsche „tiefe Beunruhigung“ über das iranische Atomprogramm.

Dieses Statement stammt nicht aus den 90ern, d.h. es stammt insofern aus den 90ern, als das britische Außenministerium damals schon genau solche Statements von sich gegeben hat.

In his Friday sermon today, Tehran Friday prayer leader Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami threatened: „Iran’s allies across the world will respond to any U.S. attack on Iran,“ and that these allies „will endanger U.S. interests everywhere in the world.“

He said that Iran was like a lion, and no one wanted to play with its claws.

Pretending to prevent an atomic Iran

Rich Lowry hat für die New York Post einen Kommentar zum Nuklearprogramm verfasst, der allen deutschen Journalisten zur Pflichtlektüre verordnet sei. Regel Nummer Eins:

The rules of the great Iranian nuclear charade are simple: We pretend to punish the Iranians for the nuclear- weapons program that they pretend doesn’t exist.

Regel Nummer Zwei:

The fact is that sanctions are an unwieldy instrument and often fail to achieve their intended goal. All that they may be good for is distracting us from the inevitable. Absent a revolution, there are two ways for the charade to end — with a nuclear Iran, or an Israeli or American military strike. Everything else is commentary.

„Up until 15 years ago, the measure of countries’ power was weapons and control over global resources, but today the gauge of power is the power of self-defense and influence on international relations,“ he continued.

Traurig aber wahr: das ist ernst gemeint und nennt sich wahrhaftig „Journalismus“.

Schwache Demokratie, starke Diktatur

Alle spielen immer nur ihre Rolle; Obama macht den besseren servilen Europäer, und weiß vermutlich gar nicht mehr, was er noch machen soll, um die menschenverachtenden Regime dieser Welt davon zu überzeugen, daß er es wirklich freundlich und voll kooperativ meint. Das Iranische Regime spielt auch weiter: vermutlich bekommen seine Protagonisten umgehend psychosomatische Beschwerden, wenn an die ersehnte Vernichtung von Israel nicht alle 24 Stunden öffentlich erinnert wird.  Darüber hinaus quittieren sie jedes naiv aufmunternde Nicken, das man Ihnen aus dem Westen schenkt, mit einem reflexhaften Ausspucken ins Gesicht des Gegenübers. Aber wieso sollten sie Obama auch ernst nehmen?

Der Verteidigungsminister: Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi has lashed out at the United States for its dual-based nuclear policies. „The US is working on a new generation of nuclear bombs. It also defends Israel that has tens of nuclear warheads but it opposes Iran’s peaceful use of nuclear energy. This shows a double-standard in their nuclear policies,“ ISNA quoted Vahidi as saying on Wednesday. The Iranian minister also rejected the possibility of a military strike against Iran’s nuclear sites by Israel or the United States. „The Zionist regime of Israel is too weak to attack Iran,“ he added. „No trace of Israel will remain if the Zionist regime declares a war on Iran,“ he warned. via Press TV

“Mr. Obama, you are a newcomer (to politics). Wait until your sweat dries and get some experience. Be careful not to read just any paper put in front of you or repeat any statement recommended,” Ahmadinejad said in the speech, aired live on state TV..

Fast schon redundant

Es ist fast schon redundant in immer schnellerenm Rythmus Artikel wie diesen aus dem Wall Street Journal zu verlinken, die das Offensichtliche immer wieder sagen: Obamas Iranpolitik ist eine einzige Katastrophe, und offenbar hat die US- Administration sich damit abgefunden, dass der Iran die Bombe haben wird und zudem überlässt sie ihm in Nahost weitgehend das Feld, lässt Alliierte im Stich, verrät Israel. Und wofür? Diese Politik ist dumm, kurzsichtig, wird zu nichts führen und ist äußerst unmoralisch und falsch zugleich.

Zu Recht kritisieren die Autoren aber auch George Walker Bush, der will share responsibility for a nuclear Iran given his own failure to act more firmly against the Islamic Republic or to allow Israel to do so, thereby failing to make good on his pledge not to allow the world’s most dangerous regimes to get the world’s most dangerous weapons.

Over the last year, the Iranian people have suffered through the fraudulent reelection of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and months of protests and recriminations by hard-line regime elements intent on preserving their grip on power.  In his 2010 Nowruz message, President Obama noted that despite his repeated attempts to engage Iran, “Iran’s leaders have shown only a clenched fist.”

This clenched fist has been directed not only at the United States and the international community, but also at the Iranian people.  On February 11^th, the 31^st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, many Iranians took to the streets to protest, but their efforts on that day were suppressed by pro-regime counterdemonstrations, the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the Basij militias, and were overshadowed by President Ahmadinejad’s bellicose announcement about Iran’s nuclear program.

The ability of the regime to clamp down on the Green Movement in recent months has caused some outside observers to argue that Iran’s opposition movement has fizzled out roughly nine months after an election that brought thousands of protesters into the streets.  In the wake of February 11^th, many questions have been raised regarding the ability of the opposition to succeed against the regime’s brutal tactics.

Obama Accepts a Nuclear Iran

Angesichts der Iran-“Politik“ der Obama-Regierung gelangt Greg Sheridan für The Australian ebenso wie das Wall Street Journal zu diesem Resultat. Auch wenn Wahlversprechen dazu prädestiniert sind, gebrochen zu werden – es dürfte schwierig sein, ein gebrochenes Wahlversprechen eines amerikanischen Präsidenten zu finden, das weitreichendere und fatalere Folgen haben dürfte.

Auch wenn solche Meldungen von Natur aus höchst spekulativ sind und in ähnlicher Form seit längerer Zeit zu vernehmen sind – momentan arbeitet die Obama-Regierung zweifelsfrei mit Hochdruck daran, Israel zu eben jenem Verteidigungsschlag zu zwingen:

Israel will be compelled to attack Iran’s nuclear weapons facilities by this November unless the U.S. and its allies enact “crippling sanctions that will undermine the regime in Tehran,” former deputy defense minister Brig. Gen. Ephraim Sneh said on Wednesday in Tel Aviv.

The sanctions currently being discussed with Russia, China, and other major powers at the United Nations are likely to be a slightly-enhanced version of the U.N. sanctions already in place, which have had no impact on the Iranian regime.

Aus erster Hand

Zehn Jahre lang hat der Mann im Iran für die CIA gearbeitet und seine Position bei den Revolutionären Garden ausgenutzt so viel Wissen, wie möglich zu transferieren.

Gebracht hat das offenbar wenig, denn:
His greatest frustration, he said, was not being able to persuade his CIA handlers of the threat from Iran’s rulers.

Und diese Bedrohung schätzt er so sein:
This regime is a messianic regime and it will create chaos and havoc as mandated by Allah,” he said. “Have no doubt about this. Mutually assured destruction does not apply to the Iranian rulers.

Das haben vor ihm schon viele gesagt und werden wohl auch viele noch sagen. Aber der Mann weiss es immerhin aus allererster Hand.
