The Syrian army signed a defense alliance with Hizbullah, a Kuwaiti paper reported on Monday.
According to the report in Al- Rai, in case of war, the two will split a “bank” of targets in Israel, and Syrian radars will supply Hizbullah operatives with intelligence on the location of Israeli aircraft, to assist Hizbullah in aiming anti-aircraft weapons.

Iran says it will make fuel for research reactor
TEHRAN, Iran – Iran claimed Monday that it will produce fuel for a research reactor that makes medical isotopes within a year, a project likely to add to Western concerns about the country’s nuclear ambitions.
Iran has justified its decision to enrich uranium to higher levels by saying it would be part of the process to create fuel for its research reactor after a deal meant to provide such fuel from abroad fell apart earlier this year. The U.S. and its allies imposed sanctions on Iran for refusing to halt uranium enrichment, which the West suspects might be geared toward producing weapons. Iran insists its intentions are peaceful.

Trotz der Sanktionen gegen den Iran wegen des Atomstreits sind die deutsche Exporte in das Land im ersten Halbjahr 2010 kräftig gestiegen.
Deutsche Unternehmen verkauften Waren im Wert von rund 1,85 Milliarden Euro in die Islamische Republik – 14 Prozent mehr als in der ersten Hälfte 2009. Das geht aus bislang unveröffentlichten Daten des Statistischen Bundesamtes vor, die Reuters am Montag vorlagen. Demnach stiegen die Importe aus dem Iran sogar um rund 88 Prozent auf 280 Millionen Euro. Im Rezessionsjahr 2009 waren die Ausfuhren um 5,3 Prozent und die Einfuhren um 9,3 Prozent gesunken, was allerdings deutlich geringere Rückgänge waren als der Durchschnitt.
In his latest remarks, Mir-Hossein Mousavi noted that “The Iranian people’s green movement has brought compassion and closeness among different sectors of society,” adding, “With all our differences of opinion, beliefs, cultures and ethnicities, we will gradually cease to stutter and will converse with one another with more ease.” The green movement leader, who was meeting with family members of the veterans of the Iran-Iraq war, also commented on the complaint filed by seven senior members of the Mosharekat and Mojahedin of Islamic Revolution parties against the “illegal interference” of military and intelligence officers in the 2009 presidential election, noting, “Those who are complaining of accusations against them are taken to prison and the accuser and institutions supporting him remain beyond the judiciary’s reach.”

Prinzipiell jedoch kann es keine Kompromisse geben. Weder mit einem solch grausamen Unrechtsregime noch mit solch fanatisierter Rechtsbeugung, mit der so getan wird, als werde ein ungerechtes Todesurteil dadurch erträglicher, dass es (vielleicht) anders als durch Steinigung vollstreckt wird. Noch kann man sich auf irgendeine kulturrelativistische Beschönigung einlassen, wonach andere Kulturen eben anders seien oder wonach die Scharia zwar einige hässliche Extreme zeige, sonst aber doch eine Form sozialer Regulierung bewirke, die man in Teilen gar in unseren Rechtssystemen akzeptieren solle. Hadi Malek-Parast, Director General for Research and Development at the Iranian Information Technology Company, told the Iranian Mehr News Agency on Sunday that Iran has started developing a national search enginged dubbed ‘Ya Haq’, a Persian expression meaning “Oh Lord.”
Speaking of the need for faster search capacity and higher security for the country’s online communications, Malek-Parast said Ya Haq would be ready to launch in 2012 and referred to the project as a domestic Intranet, as opposed to an international Internet.

• Eintreten für die Geltung des Atomwaffensperrvertrages für alle Länder und eine atomwaffenfreie Zone im Nahen und Mittleren Osten einschließlich Iran und Israel.
Denn:
Nur so hat ein gerechter Frieden zwischen gleichberechtigten und souveränen Staaten im Nahen und Mittleren Osten eine Chance.

According to a piece by Michael Ledeen in the Wall Street Journal, the Iranian air force securing the site of the controversial Bushehr nuclear reactor recently shot down what it thought were three enemy drones. The drones had been deployed by another sector of the Iranian military — but no one had bothered to tell the country’s air force about the project.
The offensive side of drone warfare is just as challenging. The unmanned aircraft itself is just the tip of a technological iceberg. Hidden are the complicated technologies — ranging from satellite communications and navigation to sophisticated surveillance systems and miniaturized weapons — that get the drone within striking distance of its target, and then guide its warhead home. The Karrar apparently lacks any means of communication with the ground beyond line-of-sight radio waves.

Liebe FreundInnen und Freunde,
ich schreibe euch diesen Brief, weil die Einladung von Frau Barbara Lochbiehler – aufgrund ihrer Mullah-system-freundlichen Position – als Rednerin an der Gedenkveranstaltung zu den Opfern des Massenmords 1982 durch das islamische Regime nicht sinnvoll ist (am 11 September 2010) !
Ich bin mir sicher, dass die Organisatoren wie jedes Jahr auch mit diesjähriger Organisation der Veranstaltung gut handeln. Ich finde solche Veranstaltung insbesondere unter der dramatischen Menschenrechtsverletzungssitution im Iran sehr wertvoll und unterstützungswert!
Ich beobachte jedoch – bedauerlicherweise- bei den eingeladenen ReferenterInnen die Namen von Frau Barbara Lochbihler von der Grünen Partei Deutschlands im europäischen Parlament (http://www.iprberlin.com/). Sie ist anhand der Folgend beigefügten Informationen eine – politisch gesehen – sehr problematische Person, die immer – noch – für den Dialog mit dem menschenverachtenden islamischen Regime im Iran plädiert (http://www.dradio.de/dkultur/sendungen/interview/1253796/)!
Ein echt völlig überzeugender Schritt, der von großer Souveränität spricht:

Turkey is to remove Iran from a watchlist of nations it considers a specific threat to its national security, a news report said Monday, amid Western concerns of rapprochement between the two countries.

Iran has enough low-enriched uranium to produce one to two nuclear weapons, but it would not be logical for it to cross the bomb-making threshold, said former UN chief of nuclear inspections Olli Heinonen in an interview with Le Monde Thursday which was cited by Reuters.
Heinonen called Iran’s nuclear program a „threat“ in a rare public interview, given shortly before he stepped down from his position as deputy director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Heinonen was head of the IAEA’s nuclear safeguards arm, which monitors countries‘ nuclear programs to make sure they are intended for peaceful use. Heinonen left the post in August for personal reasons .

„Israel bears no animosity towards the Iranian people. We have deep respect and aspire to cooperate with them to bring about a better reality in the region. Another point that does not always come up in the Iranian context, due to the nuclear threat, is the glaring violation of civil rights inside Iran. This is an aggressive dictatorial regime, and all progressive elements throughout the world should take action against it, if only for that reason. Israel congratulates the Iranian people for their efforts to liberate themselves from the burden of the oppressive regime. At international forums, Israel has raised the issue of the suffering of the Iranian people and the cruelty of the regime ruling them. That is the main thing we can do for such an illustrious nation suffering from oppression. But in the end, it is the Iranian people themselves who must take their fate in their own hands and act to achieve their rights. The more the citizens of Iran increase their protest activities, the higher the international support will be.“

Gemütliches Islamistentreffen bei Assads:
Iranian Revolutionary Guards chief Gen. Mohamed Ali Jafari, who rarely leaves his country, paid a secret visit to Damascus a few hours before Tehran launched its first nuclear reactor at Bushehr Saturday, Aug. 21. With him were top Al Qods Brigades commanders in Lebanon, Iraq and the Palestinian territories. The group stayed only long enough to confer with Syrian president Bashar Assad and his military and intelligence chiefs on three topics:
1. The roles Syria and Hizballah will play in a potential Iranian military reprisal to a possible American or Israeli strike on its nuclear sites.
2. The probable repercussions of an Iranian decision to use Hizballah or pro-Iranian terrorists as proxies for a pre-emptive strike – or strikes – against Israel.
3. How Syria can help discourage the Persian Gulf and Saudi Arabia from their willingness to support a US or Israel attack on Iran with bases, intelligence assets and other means.

Has Iran’s Green Movement “effectively ceased to exist as a visible political force“? Or is it well-placed to re-emerge and take advantage of growing fissures within the Islamic Republic’s ruling conservative bloc?
Observers suggest that feuding within the dominant conservative cliques reflects the growing power of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his supporters in the Revolutionary Guards and Basij at the expense of the traditional clergy, a development to which Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei must adapt in order to retain his supremacy.
“The supreme leader is trying to preserve his own leadership and keep the initiative,” one analyst suggests. “Other groups are concerned that Iran is approaching a point where Ahmadinejad and his security forces — both the IRGC [Revolutionary Guards] and the Basij militias, who now control the country’s economy — will make the supreme leader a puppet following their dictates.”
Ahmadinejad has come into conflict with the traditional conservative clergy over women’s dress codes and adopted a more nationalist, less religious discourse.
But Mehdi Khalaji, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, sees this as a cynical political ploy. Ahmadinejad’s previous rhetorical focus on the return of the hidden or 12th imam, the Mahdi, has given way to the practical imperative to cultivate a new support base for the 2013 parliamentary elections.
Lebanese President Michel Sleiman has officially asked Iran to equip and modernize the Lebanese Army, given the problems Beirut is facing.
Suleiman has asked Iranian officials to consider selling advanced military equipment to the Lebanese Army, reported IRNA.
The Lebanese president has reiterated that the modernization should take place while keeping in mind Beirut’s strategic needs as well as its budget limitations.
This follows recent deadly confrontation between Lebanese and Israeli forces.
The exchange of fire left three Lebanese soldiers and one Israeli military officer dead.
After the incident, US officials announced that they would freeze100 million dollars in military aid destined for Beirut.
On Saturday, Iran’s Russian enablers jump-started the fueling of the Islamic Republic’s first nuclear power plant, Bushehr. While the U.S. State Department pooh-poohed Bushehr as not “a proliferation risk,” the spread of Iranian nuclear technology has already reached the radical Islamic regime in Sudan: According to an al-Jazeera report today, “Earlier this year, Iran offered to transfer nuclear technology to Sudan.” Sudanese president Omar Hassan al-Bashir, who is allied with Osama bin Laden and responsible for the genocide of 300,000 people in Darfur, plans to have an operational nuclear facility by 2020.
But the West has employed a kid-glove approach to stopping the Russian drive to supply Iran with nuclear technology and know-how and with gas deliveries, which help prop up the Ahmadinejad regime.
