Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki neither confirmed nor rejected the rumors about the resignation of some Europe-based Iranian diplomats on political grounds. | |
“Iranian diplomats and envoys are dispatched to foreign countries for a definite period of time to carry out their missions and then they should come back to Iran. If somebody (a diplomat) has a problem, our experts will examine that problem,” he said when asked about the veracity of the resignation rumors in a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian on Wednesday.
According to some unconfirmed reports, two Iranian diplomats have recently quitted their jobs in the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s offices in Finland and Belgium in support of opposition movement and sought political asylum in Europe. On the rumors about his imminent resignation, the senior diplomat said, “We usually respond to the politically motivated rumors spread out of the country aimed at undermining our national interests. We don’t give priority to responding to other rumors.” via Mehrnews |
