Nine female political prisoners have staged a hunger strike to protest the Evin Prison special guards’ attack on the ward populated by female political prisoners. Speaking to Rooz, Amin Ahmadian, Bahareh Hedayat’s husband, confirmed the news and explained, “On Tuesday afternoon, they took the female political prisoners to the prison’s yard while they searched their cells and confiscated some of their personal belongings.
It is not yet clear why they did that, but it appears that they were looking for a cell phone or a communication device.” Currently, 37 female political prisoners are held at the Evin Prison ward. Bahareh Hedayat’s husband says, “The female prisoners were bodily searched in a harassing manner. As a result, and in protest of that harassment, they are staging a hunger strike.”
