Iran Rejects Claims It Is Persuading Hamas To Intervene In Yemen Conflict

Iran has rejected allegations that it has asked Hamas to intervene in the Yemen conflict.

Iran’s embassy in Damascus denied the report, published by the Kuwaiti Al-Siyassa daily, that Hamas has decided to aid the Houthis in Yemen.

„Al-Siyassa is notorious for publishing baseless reports, and the public opinion of the region is well aware of its ill-will approaches,“ the Iranian students news agency said.

Iranian FM: ‚All Involved Parties Should Exercise Self-Restraint‘ in Yemen

Iran has called on all sides of the conflict in northern Yemen to exercise self-restraint for the benefit of the Islamic world.

„The conflict is what worries the Arab and Muslim world… So, we advise all involved parties to exercise self-restraint. We invite them to try to resolve the issue through dialogue,“ Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told reporters today.

„All that this fighting does is harm the interests of the world of Islam. Some powers, however, will benefit from such conflicts in our region, as they are hostile towards the Muslim world,“ he said.

Houthi sources reported that Saudi and Yemeni forces yesterday launched a new ground attack against them, that included tanks, artillery, and aircraft.

The Iranian news agency Fars reported that Ayatollah Nouri Hamdani accused Saudi Arabia of responsibility for the slaughter in Yemen, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

Iranians and Saudis Fight a Proxy War in Yemen

Iran is now waging a proxy war against Saudi Arabia and Yemen by supporting a radical sect of Zaydi Shiites described as the Houthis, after the founder of their movement. The Iranians aren’t merely trying to destabilize Arab countries that are aligned too closely to the U.S.; they are trying to create a Shiite empire extending from Iran through southern Iraq to Syria — where the Alawites, an offshoot of Shiite Muslims, are in power — to Lebanon.

Now Iran is trying to create a Shiite enclave in northern Yemen. If Iran gets nuclear weapons, it is easy to predict where they will go next: Bahrain, whose population is majority Shiite, and Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, which conveniently for Iran is 75% Shiite and is the location of 90% of the country’s oil.

On the Yemeni side of the border, Iran has been trying to create a branch of the pan-Shiite Hezbollah movement. The aim is to control a chunk of territory along the Saudi border and use it to destabilize the kingdom while exerting pressure on the Yemeni government.

This would echo Iran’s 1982 creation of the Lebanese Hezbollah, which controls an enclave on the Israeli border, using it as a base for periodical attacks on Israel and continued political pressure on the Lebanese government in Beirut.

The Iran-inspired rebellion in Yemen started in 2007 under a tribal leader named Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.

Al-Houthi, from a small tribe in Yemen’s northern highlands, spent eight years learning „Islamic jurisprudence“ in the Iranian „holy“ city of Qom. His critics claim that he really studied asymmetric warfare, not theology. He denies any ties with Iran but says that he admires the Iranian leadership’s „brave stance against Crusaders and Zionists.“

Over the last decade, scores of Yemenis have received military training in Iran or Hezbollah-controlled parts of Lebanon. The Houthis have also gotten weapons, either directly from Iran or via Lebanon. Last month, Yemen captured an Iranian ship near the port of Haja carrying weapons for the Houthis. [Weiterlesen…]

Yemen Accuses Tehran of Sending Yemeni Students To Train In Tehran To Join Houthis

Yemen’s ruling party has accused Iran of supporting the Houthi rebels who are battling the government forces.

It says that the Iranian cultural attache in Cairo recruits Yemeni students studying in Egypt to train in Iran prior to their joining the Houthis in Yemen.

Yemeni Interior Minister Gen. Muther Al-Masri said that there was coordination between Al-Qaeda, the Houthis, and the Southern Movement, which is seeking to declare southern Yemen an independent state.

[The southern region of Yemen, formerly the British colony of Aden, is economically and socially more advanced than the ruling northern Yemen, and they have been agitating for separation from Yemen.]

Dazu zwei Meldungen:

1. The Tehran government says it fully supports a united and stable Yemen, ejecting claims that Iran has been interfering in San’a’s internal affairs. „The Islamic Republic of Iran has invariably stressed the importance of Yemen’s territorial integrity and the independence, sovereignty and national unity of the country,“ Iran’s embassy in Manama said in a statement. „Iran, alongside the Republic of Yemen, is exerting efforts within the context of peace, security and stability. We believe that increasing tension and debates that lead to bloodshed do not serve peace, stability or national unity in Yemen. „We hope to see national unity, security and stability in the Republic of Yemen, through measures and the wisdom of the leadership and government of Yemen,“ the statement added.

2. According to the publication Iranian Diplomacy, Iranian State Television on Friday aired a program in which the analyst called Abdul Malek Al Houthi the leader of Shiite rebels in Yemen a follower of Ayatollah Khomeini and „Shiite Revolution.“ The analyst called Yemen as the third frontier, besides Lebanon and Palestine, in Iran’s battle of influence.

Yemen Cleric Accuses Iran Of Inciting Violence In Country

Yemenite sheikh Abd Al-Majid Al-Zindani has accused Iran of inciting violence in the north of the country, where the predominantly Shi’ite Houthis are waging a war against the government.

„The way events are moving in this country latest indicates to us that Iran wants to export the Shia ideology by force, which we utterly reject,“ Al-Zindani said.

Fighters from the Houthi group, named after its leader, have been battling the predominantly government forces in Saada province since 2004.

The military launched a major offensive – dubbed Operation Scorched Earth – in the north on August 11 in an attempt to crush the group.

Arab League chief Amr Moussa accused Iran of interfering in Arab affairs, urging Iran and Arab states to open talks to patch up differences.

„This interference should not take place. This is a very serious situation,“ Mussa told Kuwait’s Al-Jarida newspaper. Den Rest des Beitrags lesen »
