FM Dismisses Medvedev’s ‚Unrealistic‘ Remarks on Iran’s N. Activities
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Tuesday dismissed the recent allegations by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that Iran has come close to the acquisition of military nuclear capability, stressing that Tehran has always sought a peaceful use of the nuclear technology.
„These remarks are opposite to the reality,“ Mottaki said, speaking in a press conference at Iran’s embassy in Madrid on Tuesday.
„We don’t know the objectives behind such remarks. We want our own right and we won’t be satisfies with any less,“ the Iranian minister went on saying.
Responding to a question about the Russian and Chinese officials‘ recent stances on Iran, Mottaki stated, „Russia and China may have stances on a number of issues that are not acceptable to us.“
Also earlier today, Head of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi cautioned Moscow officials not to be fooled by the „false information“ presented by the US and British spy agencies.
„We expect Russia, as a powerful country, not to be fooled by the false information of the American and British spy agencies,“ Boroujerdi told FNA on Tuesday.
Noting that Medvedev’s comments on Iran’s nuclear program are „unreal“, Boroujerdi advised Moscow not to follow the policies of the US and Britain.
He also referred to the presence of approximately 3,000 Russian experts at Iran’s first nuclear power plant in the southern city of Bushehr as well as the vast cooperation between the two countries in this field, and said, „They (the Russians) are well aware that our nuclear activities are peaceful.“
